The Korean automaker is pursuing its efforts to make road mobility even simpler, this time thanks to the new generation of its flagship model, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra, which will be visiting us starting this fall and which adopts a completely different powertrain, the hybrid powertrain.
Hyundai in Joliette, in the heart of the Lanaudière tourist region, near Saint-Jean-de-Matha, Sainte-Julienne, Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon and Berthierville, is working hard to prepare for its arrival and make you experience the continuation of this Hyundais remarkable history.
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra at Hyundai Lanaudière
This car is first described as dynamic and fun by experts. For 2021, the Korean manufacturer, always ahead of its time, is offering a hybrid engine, comprising a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine that works in concert with a 32 kW permanent magnet electric motor powered by a 1.32 kWh lithium-ion battery. Coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it produces 139 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The Seoul automaker reports combined fuel consumption of less than 4.7 L/100 km, which will result in significant savings on the roads of Quebec, Canada and the United States.
In addition, the interior has been completely redesigned from top to bottom and now offers a sportier and more pleasant driving experience. A 10.25-inch screen, like on other Seoul products, will be available for the infotainment system. The technophiles will also be happy to learn that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available wirelessly, a first in the segment, reflecting the automakers desire to be even more innovative and able to meet the needs of younger drivers.
Among other technological features, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will be equipped with an induction charger, a Bose sound system and voice recognition, as well as the driving assistance systems included in the SmartSense suite which will now be standard, such as frontal collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane tracking, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, rearview camera and much more.
Elantra enthusiasts can also choose optional blind spot monitoring, intelligent cruise control and highway driving assistance. Even your phone can be used as a key to unlock or start the car.
But what makes the 2021 Hyundai Elantra even more distinctive is its on-board atmosphere where the layout of the controls and the dashboard presentation accentuate the cocoon effect, especially since the more discreet air vents give way to other more crucial elements. Customizing the atmosphere of your next Hyundai will be possible with the 64 available colours for ambient lighting, another first in the segment of the 2021 Hyundai which will arrive in Canada this fall.
On the whole, this new generation of the Hyundai Elantra shows how the Korean automaker is pushing back its limits and sees a promising future as it bets on its new style with its hybrid variant, which is very well equipped in every respect. The global manufacturer from Seoul knows how to do things in the right order and once again surpasses itself with a 2021 Elantra hybrid. What better way to support efforts to reduce greenhouse gases!
