In 2021, a new era begins for the Hyundai IONIQ electric vehicle. Indeed, IONIQ signs its independence and becomes a full-fledged brand specializing in electric vehicles. Drawing inspiration from both past and future, Hyundai creates an all-new line of cutting-edge cars.
Hyundai Lanaudière in Joliette, near Repentigny, Mascouche and Terrebonne presents the car brand of tomorrow.
With its IONIQ branch, Hyundai has set itself the goal of creating unique cars, quite distinct from the cars currently on the market. To achieve this, the manufacturer is relying on a style that is both futuristic and inspired by older car models.
The first three models announced are the IONIQ 5, 6 and 7, each with its own unique features. The numbers forming the name of the electric IONIQ model, on the other hand, indicate the type of car. An odd number indicates an SUV, while a sedan is designated by an even number.
The IONIQ 5, the first to appear on the market as early as 2021, will therefore be an SUV. This one, based on the 45 EV concept, is built in a mould that deliberately reminds us of the 1974 Pony, from which it takes its inspiration. However, this retro feel is combined with resolutely futuristic lines and headlights, creating a car that looks like it's straight out of a science-fiction movie.
In a similar vein, the IONIQ 6 sedan is in its elongated forms inspired by the aerodynamic cars of the 1930s. Based on the EV Prophecy concept, this new electric sedan will be available in 2022. The interior of this car looks promising, with a large curved touch screen and seats that are more comfortable than ever. A spacious interior, thanks to the sedan's finely drawn curves, awaits those who will purchase the IONIQ 6.
As for the IONIQ 7, it will be a larger SUV, with a squarer, sturdier shape. It is scheduled for release in 2024, with more details to follow.
These cars, all of which will be unique, have certain similarities, following a shared guideline. For example, all three will be built on the brand new E-GNP platform. The latter has been designed specifically for electric cars, giving them a longer range. Other commonalities include cutting-edge features such as the LED light kits.
With this original product line, Hyundai wants to distinguish itself and become a pillar in the sale of electric cars. A great deal of work is being done in this direction within the company, particularly with regard to the development of hydrogen-powered models.
For Hyundai, the way of the future is not only in appearance and technologies, but also in eco-responsibility. With elegant and unique designs, cutting-edge technologies and faster charging electric cars, IONIQ is leading the way to the future. With features that will appeal to all generations, IONIQs will confound even the most skeptical.
Watch for the arrival of IONIQs, with the 5 coming out first as early as next year. More exact specifications are yet to come, but what leaves no doubt is that you will be dealing with an entirely new and innovative concept. Hyundai's IONIQ is the future on our roads, starting in 2021.
